Anvil Game Studios is an independent game development studio based in Malta. The team developed and published Holdfast: Nations At War, a multiplayer first and third person shooter set across the Napoleonic and WW1 eras.

Holdfast is known for large battles, roleplay, proximity voice chat, regiments, naval warfare, line battles, and community-led events.

Studio History

The studio began after Julian and Andrew Farrugia started work on the early concept for what became Holdfast: Nations At War. Andreas Grech later joined as programmer, and Anvil Game Studios was founded in June 2014.

Holdfast: Nations At War entered Steam Early Access in 2017 and reached Version 1.0 in March 2020. In 2022, the studio released Holdfast: Frontlines as a free WW1 total conversion DLC.

Console Release

After years of continued development, Anvil Game Studios expanded Holdfast to PlayStation 5 / Pro and Xbox Series S / X with full cross-play support.
