To maximise your effectiveness as a Musician and maintain a positive community environment, consider the following:
Important music updates reflected here:

* '''Tactical Coordination:''' Always prioritise playing the song highlighted in Yellow. Reaching the 12% accuracy cap can significantly alter the outcome of a linebattle engagement.
* '''0.40:''' Older musician accuracy bonus was raised to 8%, stacking to 12%.
* '''Positioning:''' Stay behind your Rank & File. As an auxiliary unit, your survival is key to maintaining the accuracy buff for the front line.
* '''1.x:''' New faction tunes and seasonal piano music appeared across several updates.
* '''Audio Standards:''' While the game encourages atmosphere, players should use VoIP music sparingly. Ensure any external audio is clear, not distorted, and ideally period-appropriate.
* '''3.x:''' Music player UI fixes landed for Steam Deck and controller navigation.
* '''The "Last Stand":''' Musicians often lead the charge during the final moments of a round to boost morale; however, during standard play, focus on staying alive to provide buffs.
* '''4.00:''' Accordion, sea shanties, karaoke, custom notes, and midi playback were added.
* '''5.00:''' Musician buffs changed to movement speed, stacking up to 5%, and now affect all classes including ship crew.
* '''5.00:''' Cello songs, banjo, bugle, midi panel, custom music slider, and band playback options were added or expanded.

Midi & Custom Music

Age of Sail added a custom musical note system and midi playback through the in-game instruments using /playsong. Later 5.x updates expanded the interface with:

  • Midi channel assignment for band playback.
  • A separate audio slider for custom music.
