Overview

Classes in Holdfast can have Traits and Abilities. Traits define characteristics that affect your class's performance — for example, they might increase character speed or reduce your melee effectiveness. Abilities control what you can do in-game, such as the ability to give orders to your fellow soldiers.

Traits

Trait Description
Able Swimmer Increases swimming speed, allowing faster movement through water.
Distinguishable Makes the class more visible on the battlefield, identifiable by allies and enemies alike.
Resilient Provides increased resistance to damage, allowing the class to absorb more hits.
Light Footed Increases movement speed, allowing for faster traversal of the battlefield.
Marksman Improves firearm accuracy, particularly at longer ranges.
Skirmisher Optimised for skirmishing tactics — improved accuracy and mobility for hit-and-run engagements.
Elite Infantry Grants superior combat effectiveness in both melee and ranged combat.
Musket Specialisation Improved proficiency with muskets, including faster reload and better handling.
Bayonet Specialisation Enhanced melee effectiveness when using a bayonet.
Pike Specialisation Enhanced melee effectiveness when using a pike.
Sword Specialisation Enhanced melee effectiveness when using a sword.
Axe Specialisation Enhanced melee effectiveness when using an axe.
Chosen Man Grants access to improved weaponry and combat bonuses, reserved for elite troops.
Cannon Specialisation Improved proficiency with cannons, including faster reload and aiming.
Rocket Specialisation Improved proficiency with rocket launchers.
Rank Discipline Provides bonuses when standing in formation with other soldiers of the same regiment.
Blunderbuss Specialisation Improved proficiency with blunderbuss weapons.
Pistol Specialisation Improved proficiency with pistols, including faster reload and accuracy.
Explosives Specialist Improved handling and effectiveness when using explosive barrels and devices.
Skilful Rider Improved horse handling, including better turning and speed control while mounted.
Mounted Firearm Specialisation Improved accuracy and handling when firing from horseback.
Mounted Sword Specialisation Enhanced melee effectiveness when attacking from horseback with a sword.
Orderly Provides support bonuses to nearby officers and command classes.

Abilities

Ability Description
High Command (Army) Inform the high-command and other gentlemen in the ranks that you're in dire need of reinforcements. A beacon will be placed on your location.
High Command (Naval) Naval variant of the High Command ability, used to call for reinforcements during naval engagements.
Medicine Allows the Surgeon to heal injured friendly soldiers by facing them and performing the healing action.
Engineering Specialist Grants the ability to construct, deconstruct, and repair battlefield fortifications and artillery.
Artillery Operator Allows the class to operate cannons and mortars with full proficiency, including loading, aiming, and firing.
Rocket Operator Allows the class to operate rocket launchers with full proficiency.
Rank and File Standard infantry ability — receive accuracy and reload buffs when standing in formation and following officer orders.
Guardsman Elite melee ability — grants increased melee damage, allowing one-shot kills on most infantry.
Musician Play musical instruments to provide accuracy and reload speed buffs to nearby friendly troops.
Standard Bearer Parade your faction's colours in the field of battle. You improve the rate at which firearms are reloaded for the rank and file by 10% when your flag is equipped.
Explosives Handling Allows the class to construct, carry, and ignite explosive barrels for demolition purposes.
Horseback Riding Grants the ability to mount and ride horses on the battlefield. Available to Cavalry and Officer classes.
Bayonet Handling Allows the class to attach and use a bayonet for close-quarters melee combat.
Bandage Allows the Surgeon to self-heal, restoring their own health with a cooldown of approximately one minute.
