Overview

Classes in Holdfast can have Traits and Abilities. Traits define characteristics that affect class performance, such as movement speed, damage, accuracy, or reload speed. Abilities control actions available to a class, such as issuing orders, healing, building, or using specialist equipment.

Traits

	Able Swimmer	Increases swimming speed by 35%.
	Armoured	Reduces incoming firearm damage by 40%.
	Axe Specialisation	Increases axe damage against objects by 60%, melee damage by 5%, and horse damage by 500%.
	Barrelman	Increases firearm accuracy by 15%, or 25% while in a crowsnest.
	Bayonet Specialisation	Increases outgoing melee damage with bayonets by 10%.
	Blunderbuss Specialisation	Increases blunderbuss accuracy by 10% and outgoing firearm damage by 5%.
	Cannon Specialisation	Increases cannon ramming speed by 15%.
	Elite Infantry	Increases outgoing melee damage by 20%.
	Explosives Specialisation	Increases movement and walking speed by 25% while handling explosive barrels and devices.
	Fast Musket Reload	Increases musket reload speed by 10%.
	Light Footed	Increases movement speed by 7%. In Nations at War, incoming melee damage is adjusted by 20%; in WW1 this melee modifier is 0%.
	Marksman	Increases firearm accuracy by 25%. In Nations at War, also increases reload speed by 15%; in WW1 the reload modifier is 0%.
	Mounted Firearm Specialisation	Increases accuracy and outgoing firearm damage by 10% when firing from horseback.
	Mounted Sword Specialisation	Increases outgoing melee damage by 500% when attacking from horseback with a sword.
	Musket Specialisation	Increases musket melee damage by 5% and outgoing firearm damage by 15%.
	Musket Drill	Increases reload speed and movement speed by 15% while drilling with muskets.
	Orderly	Reduces incoming damage by 20%.
	Pike Specialisation	Increases outgoing melee damage with pikes by 10%.
	Pistol Specialisation	Increases pistol accuracy and outgoing firearm damage by 10%.
	Presence	Increases firearm accuracy by 15%, or 25% while in a crowsnest.
	Rank Discipline	Increases accuracy by 8%, or 13% while crouched.
	Resilient	Reduces incoming damage by 15%.
	Rocket Specialisation	Increases rocket launcher loading speed by 20%.
	Skilful Rider	Increases horse speed by 10% while mounted.
	Skirmisher	Adjusts incoming melee damage by 70%. Also increases accuracy by 5% in Nations at War and 15% in WW1.
	Sword Specialisation	Increases outgoing melee damage with swords by 5%.
	Versatile	Increases firearm accuracy and reload speed by 10%.

Abilities

Icon	Ability	Description
	High Command (Army)	Places a reinforcement beacon at your location.
	High Command (Naval)	Naval variant of the High Command ability, used to call for reinforcements during naval engagements.
	Medicine	Allows the Surgeon to heal injured friendly soldiers by facing them and performing the healing action.
	Engineering Specialist	Grants the ability to construct, deconstruct, and repair battlefield fortifications and artillery.
	Artillery Operator	Allows the class to operate cannons and mortars, including loading, aiming, and firing.
	Rocket Operator	Allows the class to operate rocket launchers.
	Rank and File	Standard infantry ability. Receive order buffs when standing in formation and following officer or sergeant orders.
	Guardsman	Nearby guardsmen reduce incoming damage by 17% in Nations at War or 5% in WW1. This stacks up to 3 times in Nations at War and 8 times in WW1.
	Musician	Play musical instruments to increase nearby friendly troops' movement speed by 2.5%, stacking up to 2 times.
	Standard Bearer	Parade your faction's colours in battle. Nearby troops gain 10% reload speed and 10% incoming damage resistance while your flag is equipped.
	Explosives Handling	Allows the class to construct, carry, and ignite explosive barrels for demolition purposes.
	Horseback Riding	Grants the ability to mount and ride horses on the battlefield. Available to Cavalry and Officer classes.
	Bayonet Handling	Allows the class to attach and use a bayonet for close-quarters melee combat.

	Dash	Light Infantry ability that grants a temporary 25% movement speed boost.
	Steady Aim	Rifleman ability that increases firearm accuracy by 50% and camera zoom by 25% while aiming.
